Three members of the Middlebury College women's soccer team earned a spot on the All-NESCAC team when the league made its announcement today. SeniorHannah Robinson (Davidson, N.C.) was named the league's Player of the Year as well as picking up first-team honors for the third-straight year, while juniorAmanda Haik (High Bridge, N.J.) was named a first-team recipient. Junior Adrianna Gildner (Woodinville, Wash.) was selected to the league's second team. The group helped lead the Panthers to a 7-5-5 mark with a trip to the NESCAC semifinals.
Robinson becomes the fourth player in Middlebury history to be named the NESCAC's Player of the Year along with Meg Bonney (2000), Brittany Cronin (2004) and Julia Favorito (2013). Robinson served as a team captain for the second-straight fall. She scored in the Panthers' season-opening victory over Colby-Sawyer on September 9, as well as the lone goal in a 2-1 setback on September 22 at Plattsburgh State. The senior midfielder also earned four assists this season and ranked fourth on the team with eight points. Robinson played in all 73 matches the last four years for Middlebury with 60 starts, scoring 10 career goals along with 13 assists for 33 points.
Haik was a key part of a Middlebury defense that allowed just 1.04 goals per match in 2015. The junior defender earns her first postseason conference accolade, starting all 17 matches in the back as well as each of the 16 matches she played in a year ago. She served as one of the team's captains this fall, and also came forward and scored her first career goal during an October 5 draw with Keene State.
Gildner also picks up her first All-NESCAC laurel, leading the Panthers in goals (9) and points (20). Her goal and point totals both tied her for third in the league rankings. Gildner, the NESCAC Player of the Week on October 12, scored four goals for eight points in three draws during that week. She continued that momentum, tallying eight goals in a span of six matches during the middle of October. Gildner has seen action in 53 matches with 27 starts over her first three seasons. She has tallied 15 goals, including six game-winning scores, along with four helpers for 34 career points.
